Taste Good doesn't exactly fit the stereotype of a Chinese restaurant. At street level it is a busy takeaway catering for locals in the know, while in the basement there's a bright, airy dining space with modern décor and pleasant background music. The sample servings plated up for display in the shopfront window may not be the most sophisticated way of enticing new customers, but judging by the constant bustle and high turnover of tables, something's pulling them in. A cleverly laid out menu (displayed in full on the restaurant's interactive website if you want to plan ahead) with easy-to-navigate section headings makes choosing your dishes more manageable. 'Popularity dishes' summarises the traditional options and lets you mix and match your meats and sauces, and spicier dishes are also indicated. The wun tun soup lives up to all expectations, with a rich texture and a strong flavour, and the main offerings are just as satisfying. Sizzling lamb with spring onion is aptly named - you'll hear the succulent meat spitting furiously as it leaves the kitchen - and this dish justifies the restaurant's sign above the door.
- High point: Light, pleasant surroundings
- Low point: Although friendly, the service slips after the main course

Have been ordering here for over 10 years and have never been disappointed! The food is consistently delicious, and the staff are always polite. On the one occasion that my delivery wasn't correct I simply phoned, told them and received my missing items within 10 minutes. To hand in a written order is obnoxious (review below, Yesim) and I hope not racist.

Even though the food is really tasty I will never go back there, as the customer service really is awful. On more than one occasion we have been given the wrong items and this last time when we decided to pick up the phone and make them aware we have been told we should have checked the contents of the bag. Mind you this was they were given our order in writing as we were fed up getting the wrong items so many times. On top of this we were charged for food which was never ordered in the first place, and when we challenged them about the prices which were advertised on their website and leaflets we were told they were not updated for a while? I think this totally comes under false advertising; it is not the extra few quid you pay, but it is their attitude and as a customer I think I can leave without taste good for the rest of my life!

Excellent for both take away and dine-in.
Delivery service is fresh, hot and prompt - although the phone lines can be very busy at peak times. Collection is efficient.
Dine-in area could be better lit but service is equal to the exceptional food.
Eaten here many a time with a mixture of business guests, friends and family. A modern take on western European Chinese food.
Just watch out for the very over-priced prawn crackers!
