Since it opened in 2005, Remedy has gained a loyal following among Southsiders. Wooden floors and tables, pale green walls and handsome cornicing make for simple but pleasant décor, while exceptionally friendly staff and light jazz help create a relaxed atmosphere to match. Shelves at the back of the café are well stocked with goodies that you can buy to takeaway. Pride of place, however, is given to a large deli counter that is piled high with myriad cheeses, cold meats, olives and various other ingredients that make up Remedy's menu. The sandwich specials, for example, offer a choice of triple-decker behemoths made up from various combinations. Alternatively, you could try designing your own. If you are after something more substantial than soup or sandwiches, a specials board offers a good number of options such as a rich and filling spicy Spanish stew with chicken, potatoes, chickpeas and chorizo or crab-cakes served with vegetable couscous. A piece of Remedy's home-made key lime pie is highly recommended as a perfect accompaniment to a strong cup of Bei and Nanini coffee.
