Silver Bowl has established itself as a creative takeaway that uses nothing but fresh ingredients. Although its menu has not changed in some time, it has little need to, as the choices are varied and fire in from all regions of China and Thailand. Particularly impressive are the tofu dishes, served with perfectly matched cashew nuts in a yellow bean sauce that is laced with just enough kick. The portions of rice and noodles are generous, and every dish is prepared to taste different from the next. The meat is universally tender and fresh, with the duck, in particular, being great value for a takeaway treat. Although Silver Bowl is known most for its Chinese fare, its Thai food makes it stand out from its rivals both at the Albert Place outlet and sister takeaway Simply Thai. For a few extra pounds, you can be taken to the creamy heights of its red and green curries, replete with a dollop of exceptionally good coconut rice. Silver Bowl has gained its reputation for good reason and, aside from occasional dips, continues to drive forward the standard of takeaway food for the city.
