This centrally located (hence the name) old-style Scottish chip shop does the simple things very well. While many chippers take the chips for granted, the crispness and texture of fried potato on offer here marks it out from the average takeaway. Being located near to so many drinking establishments means Central is often rammed come closing time on a Friday night, but lunchtime specials (11.30am-1.45pm), including pizzas, burgers and baked potatoes, are also on offer for those not out on the lash. The standard menu features staples of fried delights, with the lamb kebabs being the pick of the bunch. Stools are provided for those in need of them and other non-food related supplies such as cigarettes and rolling papers are on sale well after off-licence closing time.
