This review is taken from the 2010 edition.
Superbly creative skills focusing on only the best that Orkney’s seas, shores and land can produce are all on show here. Three out of four starters may be fish or sea-food based, but choices ranging from homemade fishcakes in shellfish bisque to a soft crab salad contrasting flavours and textures through sharp apple mayonnaise and ripe avocado salsa offer plenty of variety. Main course selections are similarly weighted in favour of the sea. Seared diver caught scallops are big boys, sweet and interestingly presented with a wholesome chunk of steamed cod, braised fennel and spinach. Carnivores can’t complain though with a choice of Orkney’s North Ronaldsay mutton baked in pastry to start or tender, melt in the mouth slow braised brisket and roast rib-eye for a main.
