No longer just a deli, the gleaming new premises of Delizique now include an in-store bakery, which emits that distinctive, delicious smell. The takeaway food can include dishes such as a puy lentil and oak barrel-aged feta salad, which balances soft, potent cheese with the slightly spiced crunch of lentils. A range of fresh pies – such as free-range chicken and leek – typically sell out, while the beetroot cake with fresh berries is now, quite rightly, famed locally. Also look out for the tailor-made ciabatta cutting board, which enables the sandwich of the day to sold by the inch. There are plans to open a 'community café-bar' in the old corner premises, keeping true to its deli roots with seasonal, fresh, well-sourced food at its heart.
