Utopia has seen many owners in the past. It has just recently been taken over and great things are expected!!!! Don't judge the pub on the previous comments as they are old!
C'mon down for a pint :D and see for yourself

Utopia has reopened after several months being closed. There is a new owner, new manager, and new staff. The interior is clean and welcoming, and the management and staff bring a fresh vision and imp[ressive level of service. This is NOT the Utopia of old, this is the NEW Utopia and, if first impressions are anything to go by, this will be a welcome and successful addition not just to Easter Road, but to Edinburgh's pub scene in general.

Nice wee bar, but does have its off days. We've had to give it a swerve on a few quiet nights when there's the bar staff watching telly to the smell of bleached floors.
But overall, I think it's a special wee place that has a great community and good character in its neck of the woods.
No, it's not about the football and that's what makes it special around here. There's nothing wrong with Football bars, but it's nice to have a change.
It'd be even more unique if they let kids in during the day - like Joseph Pearce does, but hey-ho.
Definately not as imaginative as it once was though, which is a shame. It could be a very well defined alternative to the traditional bars, like Middletons, Robbies, The Four In Hand, (and long may they all live) the shiny but expensive uptown bars, and the thrilly pillowed Boda type concepts.

Taking into account the time the above comment was posted I take it Willis has just been thrown out and probably made the attentive bar staff grumpy. The reason Utopia is a good pub in the area is because it is not all about the football. The atmosphere is laid back and a quick pint can often lead to one to many. The occasional bands that are on are superb and the Monday night Poker night is Brillant... The Credit Crunch lunch has saved my Sunday on a few occasion and the price is amazing. The owner and staff are a good group and this is what makes any pub.

What a load of nonsense. Well designed pub? Hardly. Pretentions of being something it's not, ie. a decent bar. Utopia? You're having a laugh.
The food is awful, certainly not as described above - I can only presume this is an old review. The chef can regularly be spotted smoking out the front of the bar and the service is poor. The waiting staff are inattentive and grumpy.
The pub is usually closed when it should be busy and the only 'wee tarts' are found drinking alchopops up the back.
