Glasgow’s Thai Lemongrass is owned by the same people who run the successful Edinburgh restaurant of the same name, and a number of early reviews suggested that the West of Scotland outpost failed to live up to the standard of the original. It looks the part, though, with a calm, tropical feel that’s all teak furniture and ceiling fans, while charming (and convincingly Thai) staff wear richly embroidered silk tunics. The menu is promising, too, though with an odd mix of East and West suggested by dodgy translation – ‘stir-fried spaghetti’ with salmon and basil being an example. A little out of the way and easy to miss, Thai Lemongrass is actually quite handy for the Theatre Royal and Cineworld once you know it’s there. Marginally less expensive than other Thais in town, the 3 course lunch at £8.50 looks worth a go. The Tom Ka Gai (chicken and coconut milk soup) is outstandingly good. RESEARCH REVIEW

  • High point: Tranquil interior.
  • Low point: Potentially misleading translation on menu.

Been three times now and each time has been excellent. Wonderful flavours and attentive staff. Highly recommended.
