Peckhams Below is the newest addition to the company's 11 stores, restaurants and brasseries. Any Peckhams establishment is always an enticing option, and here the tasty delights offered in their extensive deli lure customers downstairs to sample the day menu and evening meals. With this in mind, it's probably best to stick to the fresh deli produce offered on the menu. Platters to share are a good option. They're fresh, generous and good value for money, featuring a variety of tasty morsels to sample, including green pesto, hummus, taramasolata and an array of cured meats, or halloumi and pineapple skewers served with piping hot flat breads. Brunch does not fare quite as well – French toast, served with bacon, tomato and maple syrup, tastes more like fried bread, while the eggs Benedict are solid and served on a soggy bagel with overcooked spinach. Happily, the desserts round off the meal on a positive note, including home-made banoffee pie served with ice-cream and Peckhams' own tasty cheesecake special. Not recommended for large groups as the cramped space doesn't leave much room to spread out.
- High point: Three course meal deal for students
- Low point: Could do with more staff during busy periods
