It could be argued the Italian Kitchen is a victim of its own success – it is almost always busy so service can occasionally stretch, and booking ahead is pretty much a must. Put that aside and what you get is a restaurant with a lovely atmosphere, a varied menu and a meal that won’t break the bank – the wine list is pretty good too. The heat from the huge pizza oven greets you as you walk in making the high ceilings not seem so high at all. There’s a decent selection of antipasti to choose from – the smoked salmon and spinach frittata is the perfect portion size and light enough to tantalise. The pizzas here won an award a few years ago and they are still great. Fish and seafood dishes change daily, but the seafood risotto is always on the menu and understandably so – it's an impressive creation, pleasing to look at and cooked superbly. All desserts and ice-cream are home-made – for a visual treat alone try the apple tart.
- High point: Nice atmosphere
- Low point: Sitting near the draughty door

This restaurant has been riding on a facade of pretence for too long. Second visit tonight (not my choice). Party of 6 Birthday party. Four of the party arrived together and were shown to our table...before anybody was seated or coats off a bottle of something was produced (a surprise someone abroad had arranged for the birthday person). Not exactly the proper way to present something sent with such good wishes when the whole party wasn't there to witness. Won't go into too much detail on everything, suffice to say do not order the Steak, of any description! Even on 2nd attempt it was fit for only repairing the souls of shoes! I honestly can't believe how bad this meal was. I'm not one for complaining but this was bad. I'd love to tell you why, but I can't decide which was worse...the actual poor standard of meat or poor standard of cooking!
Do yourself a favour....give The Italian Kitchen a miss!

Great place, good value. Good Pizza from non charcoal oven.
A bit too popular for my liking so don't go.

After reading these reviews about the Italian Kitchen, I wanted to test the restaurant for myself. I had a superb evening in the Italian Kitchen with great food and wine. The Italian Kitchen had a great lively atmosphere and the food was some of the best Italian cuisine I have tasted in Glasgow. The staff were helpful when I was trying to pick a wine to go with my food which I was grateful for. I would tell anyone who likes good Italian food to try the Italian Kitchen in Glasgow, you won't regret it.

Can't complain... the Crostini Al Gamberoni is a MUST and is what i always order... the flavours are great.
As for the staff, very pleasant, courteous and very fast service and the although you can get better Italian food in Glasgow there is nothing wrong with the Italian Kitchen for good solid food.

Was I really in the same restaurant?
We found it to be one of the best meals we have eaten.
The food was super. It was presented well & was delicious. I would reccomend the chicken livers. The ministrone was flavoursome & the fresh parmesan was a surprise. Pasta was not overcooked & the Pizzas were delicious. Just enough sausage!
Desserts were yummy.
Staff were pleasant, fast & unobtrusive.
We look forward to the next time. Can't wait

I am Italian, and the food was ok, but nothing like italian stuff, a germnan cook could have served this....pasta was overcooked and the fish was far from fresh! many more places in glasgow have better italian food than this. The safff was unfriendly and rude....would I be back?Never! it is cheaper to take a ryanair flight flight and have a proprer italian experience in Rome or Milan.
