The List's Eating & Drinking Guide 2008 is now in the shops. This review is taken from the 2007 edition.
Surrounded by a sizeable student population in the heart of the West End, the menu at Chillies happily caters to all appetites while maintaining strong roots in Indian cooking. So pizzas, burgers and baked potatoes are all available, but curries loom large. Try the snappy vegetable bhoona, a hearty plate of fluffy boiled potatoes, tomatoes and cauliflower served in a rich sauce that is lightened by a generous sprinkling of coriander. Specialty dishes are slightly more pricey, but worth the extra wedge. With plans afoot to expand both the premises and the menu, expect a neighbouring restaurant and more European, Italian and seafood dishes by the end of 2007.
- High point: Café décor is both modern and welcoming
- Low point: Having to order rice separately quickly bumps up the bill
