Starting life as a small van in the West End of town some 16 years ago, Crepe a Croissant has become somewhat of a hallowed ground for all of Glasgow’s carb-obsessed crowd. The menu includes smoothies, sandwiches, baguettes, wraps, croissants and baked potatoes, but it’s the crepes, obviously – made on specially imported pans and by trained staff - which top the bill. The company caters for vegetarians, Halal meat eaters, people with a severe sweet tooth, and anyone on a health kick. Savoury favourites include Mouthwatering Mexican (soya chilli and cheese), Fabulous Feta, Perfect Pesto (chicken pesto with emmental) and Classy Chick-Pea (curried with cheese) as well as classics such as Ham and Cheese. The sweet crepes are a law unto themselves and include Banana Chocolate Dream, Mega Marshmallow (impossible to eat but worth all the trouble) and Cupid’s Cup, filled with After Eights, cream, crème de menthe and flaked almonds.
- High point: Great variety for different dietary requirements
- Low point: Messy to eat
