The Cameo Bar doesn’t seem to have settled on a single decorative style. There is a touch of the contemporary (see the beige suede benches); there is a little Edwardian (see the red and brown flock wallpaper) and there is a bit of traditional pub (dark wood, gilt mirrors and velvet curtains). Fantastically, it all gels rather nicely. On the menu is a standard selection of pub grub: burgers, chips and steak pie all feature, as well as a couple of pasta dishes and a ‘curry of the day’. Soft, warm and buttery garlic ciabatta is a fine way to begin your meal here. Main courses of beer-battered haddock with chips and Cumberland sausage and mash are decent, but the potato sides tend to be the more satisfying. Desserts can be disappointing, despite their impressive presentation: a blackberry and apple pie arrives straight from the microwave and tastes as such, with greasy pastry and chalky apples the predominant flavours. The Cameo Bar is full of quirks and character. The food is not, but it is perfectly respectable.
- High point: Cosy and calming atmosphere…
- Low point: …makes you expect more from the food

RUBBISH! Was so upset about the day I had at the Cameo!
We went for food and drinks.. we ordered a hoy choc and a latte.. they were both cold we never got our food?!
We went to the bar to complain they didnt seem that bothered and keept asking me who I ordered food from when I pointed that person out... she said she couldnt remember taking my order?!?
When I said look forget it we have waited long enough how much for the hot choc and the latte.. they charged me 8 pounds?!??! I was like for what?!
Turns out we ordered a strong latte which cost 4.75!!! Umm no it was a cold week coffee made from a cheap nasty machine! It doesnt even cost that much for a coffee in Harvey Nicks!
I found the staff to be rude!! Unhelpful and I will not be going back to this dump!

The staff here are very rude and couldn't care less about customer service.
Their behaviour was unbelievable.......bar/waiting staff could only get away with this poor poor attitude if management allowed it. I was DISGUSTED !!! NEVER GOING BACK!!! - 4. Tira04, Leith, Edinburgh – 22 January 2010, 4:13pm

Dined there a few nights ago before going to the cinema at Ocean Terminal. I've eaten here before and it's always been OK pub food type fare. This time around I thought I'd try something different and ordered the salmon fillet - not a good idea! The salmon was served raw in the middle. When I mentioned this to the staff, they very quickly returned it to the kitchen to correct the situation. However, the salmon was returned to my table for a second time very quickly - and while it was better - it was STILL raw in the very center and inedible. The chefs seemed more interested in having a fag outside than food hygiene standards - I am not planning on dining there again.
