Eastern Spices has been a popular and reliable pit stop for lovers of Indian takeaway since it opened 11 years ago. The friendly staff manning the smartly appointed outlet will pass the time of day with regulars or warmly welcome a new face. The menu is worth spending a bit of time poring over as it has recently been expanded to include further specialities from across the subcontinent and banquets of varying sizes. Alongside the wide range of lamb, chicken and seafood specialities, vegetarians are also well catered for, with a good choice of tempting veggie starters, side dishes and main meals. Don't worry if you can't be bothered to move from the sofa after a hard week at work, as Eastern Spices offers a prompt delivery service, free for orders over ten pounds.

1. Scottish Beef, Stockbridge, Edinburgh – 20 April 2008, 7:44pm(2s)Report

After a lazy sunday afternoon we decided to consult the list to help us satisfy an insatiable desire for indian cuisine.

Eastern Spices is centrally located with parking available. The menu has a good range of specialties together with classics however no one specialty truly took my fancy. We had poppadoms with onion chutney, mushroom pilau rice, peshwari naan, tandoori lamb tikka and lamb Muglai Chana Gosht.

Good: Timely service, Peshwari naan, Lamb Chana Gosht was tender and fairly tasty but ultimately lacking in 'freshly-ground-spice-flavour'.

Bad: Grossly overcooked dry lamb tandoori, Greasy small portion of rice, cold tandoori on arrival, chutney gave the impression of chopped onion blended with tomato puree

Overall a fairly poor takeaway indian and we wont be rushing back.
