This review is taken from the current (2011) edition.
The ever-reliable Shapla is still going strong after 18 years of knocking out top-notch Bangladeshi cuisine and regional Indian specialities. Chef Abdul Kabir serves up a selection of traditional and twisted dishes from his homeland alongside accessible favourites – from sparklingly spicy acher gosht to sour-sweet, dense dhansak – all prepared with fresh herbs and spices for a homely, different-every-time taste. Dishes done in the seriously hot tandoor are particularly strong, so sample Persian chicken tikka or a mixed tandoori platter. A spectrum of starters and sides includes everything from puffy puri to proper kebabs. Round things off with sensuously sweet gulab jamon. You can order online, or pop in for service that's always smooth, smiling and punctual.

Good day curry lovers,
A friend of a friend put me on to this lovely little diamond. I have tried and tested Indian Takeaways through-out Scotland and was sceptical at first as always.
Whilst entertaining guests I had a nervous feeling in the pit of my stomach as I have been let down by the standard of the classic curry houses in Edinburgh of late.
Long behold a Indian takeaway would actually arrive within the `40-45' minute' standard delivery time!!!
When I opened the dishes I was amazed that the food was still piping hot, there was no excess oil leeking out of the containers and the pompadoms were still 100% intact?!?! Surely it couldnt get any better than this.......
Well my Punjab pals its sure can! The Pakora's or `Pakura' as the Shapla like to call them where freshly made crispy little critters with caramalised onions mixed into the equation. I made quick work of them, but they were so light (non greasy or microwaved) I was still salavating at the thought of my main dishes.
The rice was light and fluffy and seperated with ease, the chicken was melt in your mouth stuff and WAS NOT off the processed block! There was a full array of flavours, cinnamon, star of east, garlic etc each new flavour coming through a bit at a time.
To round it off the delivery driver came back to the door after I had tipped him too much money?!? Punctuality, amazing dishes and an honest way of business what more could anyone ask for? I am a delighted customer, i only hope this was not beginers luck.
Flawless work (keep it up)
Punjab Pete
