The 2011/12 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).

The contemporary glass exterior of the Radisson SAS hotel provides an inviting taster of the stylish and arty interior of the Collage Restaurant within. Bizarre poems form the tablecloth design and paintings by British artist Sir Peter Blake line the walls. Dim lighting and soft music create a pleasant, intimate atmosphere. The staff are welcoming and serve complimentary olives and a variety of bread on arrival. An abundance of vegetarian choices feature on the menu which also includes dishes with a variety of meats and fish such as duck and monkfish. Salmon fillet, leek and mussel nage with sautéed mushrooms provides is a perfectly judged balance of flavours and presented in effortlessly artistic form. Hearty appetites would appreciate the thick-cut steaks with a large choice of sauces. The thick French onion soup makes for an appetising starter. For dessert, raspberry shortcake is surprisingly bitter without being unpleasant whilst the fluffy white chocolate cheesecake is a sweeter alternative. Cheese lovers can embrace Scottish produce in St Aiket, Bonnet or Dunsyre Blue with oatcakes. Light and full bodied wines from as afar afield as New Zealand and Argentina form an extensive and varied wine list.

  • High point: Excellent variety of food and wine available
  • Low point: Slightly lengthy wait between courses

Reviews of Collage (Radisson SAS Hotel, 301 Argyle Street, Glasgow)

I have been twice now to Collage and was slightly dissappointed on the second visit. The staff were slow and the food, whilst sounding very appetizing on the menu just didn't really live up to expectations.
