This review is taken from the current (2011) edition.
Izzi is a restaurant of two halves, with the front dining room clearly visible to the passers-by on busy Lothian Road through a huge plate glass window. The second room is curiously featureless but feels a little more private. Friendly staff greet every diner, and there’s the option to eat at the teppanyaki and watch the chefs at work. The food punches above the expectations of the setting, with a large sushi menu as well as a full Chinese menu for those who aren’t quite convinced by raw fish options. This would be a pity though, because the sushi is competently executed, daisy-fresh and very, very pretty. For mains, a tender chicken teriyaki comes with a moreish, sticky sauce, while the tempura is perfectly cooked, crispy without a hint of greasiness. Izzi isn’t quite a destination restaurant, but for a quick, high-quality pit-stop it’s hard to fault.
- High point: Light, crunchy tempura
- Low point: They whisk the soy sauce away from you after use

Love this place. The food is so delicious, many people don't take notice of this restaurant and it's their loss! The sushi's are yum and teppanyaki is so tasty with their individual sauces to dip! The people are very pleasant and helpful and when i came here with my family my 2 daugthers had chinese and me and my wife had japanese, ideal for everyone's taste! great place for us and the kids to enjoy! 10/10
