The soundtrack of Beatles hits perhaps hints that this busy refuelling stop for city centre employees and passing shoppers is not going to throw up many surprises. The décor of dark wood and slate is barely visible at midday, when the crush of punters makes finding a seat fairly difficult. Sandwiches and panini come in all the typical varieties, served with soup or chips (the skinny type). The lentil soup is fairly plain, while the macaroni cheese will appeal to those who are not keen on strongly-flavoured cheddar. More interesting are the cakes, which come in a range made using popular confectionary - Mars and Maltesers, for example - melded into marbled, chocolatey slices. These are guaranteed to raise blood sugar levels for a confrontation with the boss back at the office. At lunchtime, there's a slightly surprising minimum £3 charge, which does nothing to deter the crowds.
