Run for over 25 years by husband and wife team Clive and Anne Davidson, the Champany Inn was finally awarded a Michelin star in 2008. Scotch beef holds centre-stage here – and at the more informal Chop and Ale House next door – but there is also a plethora of seafood options on the menu, from Loch Gruinart oysters and lobsters to fillets of salmon hot-smoked to order over wood chips in the kitchen's own smoker. If you're looking to stay overnight there are 16 suites decorated in a contemporary Scottish style.
