At the Cambridge Bar the humble burger, a pub staple, is no longer quite so humble. In this stylish but almost self-effacingly neutral venue (popular with all from midweek business lunchers to sporty weekend brunchers), the gourmet burgers are so big you'll need an extra mouth. All are made with quality ingredients. Got a bit of a beef with 100% Scotch beef? There are free-range chicken burgers and veggie burgers too. Heck, even if you have a thing against the fresh-baked sourdough sesame rolls, each burger is available minus the bun but with extra salad. Oh, and there also are bowls of chunky chips for the spud fanatic. There are no starters as such, so get started checking out the wide range of burger 'flavours' - from a simple cheeseburger to something more imaginative, such as the Aussie burger, which is an enjoyable romp of seemingly disparate toppings including fried egg, beetroot and pineapple. Sounds weird, but it works. To be honest, after all that, you'd be hard pushed to squeeze in a dessert but ice-cream and milkshakes are on offer. All in all, a 'must try', but be prepared, it gets busy at weekends.
