The faux rustic Italian décor may look a little tired but there is nothing tired about the service which is pleasant, efficient and warm. The à la carte menu is flexible and the tapas section makes it tempting to try a few starters. The salt and pepper calamari promised more than it delivered – pepper but no salt, while the queen scallops were tasty and served with the ubiquitous black pudding. Despite a selection of mains including swordfish and chump of lamb, the menu is dominated by pizzas and pastas – the foil-baked Tuscan bolognese is lifted by the very tasty rich ragu. The desserts feature a good cheesy home-made cheesecake and a rich house tiramisu, while the wine list is small but thoughtfully put together and they serve a good number of wines by the glass – the primitivo is particularly good. A pleasant atmosphere and This is a great place for a good-value pre-theatre, a bite while shopping or a casual night out in a relaxing atmosphere with good food.
- High point: Great service
- Low point: Décor needs to be refreshed
Local favourite Anti Pasti is a friendly little restaurant tucked away in a great location close to Glasgow city centre. The ruggedly rustic interior, designed by a local artisan, blends woodcraft and ironwork in neutral tones to create a relaxed, comfortable dining space. An inviting menu prides itself on blending authentic Italian cooking with modern presentation.
