This review appears in the The List's Eating & Drinking Guide 2008 – in the shops now or buy online.
This restaurant is named after Earth's Paleozoic supercontinent, a fitting title given its capacity to cater for 350 diners over two floors, with the top one reserved for groups and the infamous curry karaoke. The ground level has a modern ambience: it's spacious and bright and features light wood, chrome and white tablecloths. The menu combines popular classics and some unusual offerings, such as crab and mussel starters (alongside the ubiquitous pakoras and samosas). Diners who enjoy food with a kick might be tempted by the chacha chilli – whole chillis served lightly battered and calmed by a tangy mandarin sauce. The main courses are a mix of traditional and unconventional, with five varieties of kormas, as well as baltis and tandooris appearing with trout and lobster dishes. Sirium girm is a success, with a choice of chicken, lamb or seafood served in a delectable sauce of nicely blended spices enlivened by chunks of fresh chilli and a mustardy tang. The stuffed mirch is a whole pepper with various fillings, such as a spicy mix of potato and spinach.
- High point: Interesting menu
- Low point: Boy bands on the stereo
