Most of the visitors to this well established Scotstoun restaurant live nearby. The venue has a no-frills approach to décor, but it is comfortable and welcoming, with subdued lighting. The modest interior belies an extensive menu, offering well-executed dishes from many regions in Indian. Starters include a selection of pakora, as well as an array of dosa fillings and poori toppings. Aloo chana is a nicely spiced mix of potatoes and chickpeas smothering a light and airy fried poori. From the tandoori appetisers, the lamb tikka is as generous as it is delectable, with chunks of succulent lamb served with minty yogurt. Choices abound in the main courses, from baltis to five varieties of regional kormas along with an array of house favourites and specials. Punjabi jullander comes with tender pieces of chicken in a rich, spicy sauce with peppers and fresh coriander. The substantial portions continue with the accompaniments and one doughy naan should satisfy two people. It may be out of the way for many, but this popular curry house is worthy of a detour.
- High point: Superior lamb tikka
- Low point: A little out of the way
