Eating & Drinking Guide 2008

This review appears in the The List's Eating & Drinking Guide 2008
– in the shops now or buy online.

In 2007, Langs hotel was taken over and renamed as the Park Inn, thus joining a worldwide chain and bringing with it the brand's signature rainbow stripes. As this edition of the Eating & Drinking Guide was going to press, plans for a new menu at Oshi were being hatched. Apart from the food options, which may retain only a small bit of its original Far Eastern ethos, no other major changes are anticipated; the big glass panes will still be dotted with fairy lights and the rather amazing fountain and pool, which feature a fire bowl, will remain centre stage. The likes of noodles, tempura and sushi will be replaced by European-style dishes. A firm and flaky fillet of halibut with crab cannelloni, mussel and clam provençal was already representing the Mediterranean on the old menu, so expect to see similar creations in future. A frozen white chocolate parfait with minted strawberry jelly is arranged with an artist's touch, skilfully prepared with good quality chocolate and ample vanilla.
