Eating & Drinking Guide

The 2011/12 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).

Situated right at the top of Princes Square, November is a light, airy cocktail bar and café which offers seating 'outside' on the balcony, looking down to the shops below, or under the interior's cupola. It offers a variety of dishes to tempt wearied shoppers or friends meeting up over a glass of wine. As well as sharing plates, such as the Mediterranean platter of olives, tomatoes, meats and various dips, there are light dishes such as bite-size Italian meatballs in pesto and tomato sauce, and smooth chicken liver pâté served with chunks of barely toasted rustic bread and a delicate pear chutney. More substantial servings include burgers, sandwiches and salads, as well as chilli, curry and pasta. But there are also options beyond the usual pub favourites, such as a risotto flavoured with asparagus tips and wild mushrooms and topped by a crisp parmesan tuille. Although the tables appear to be rather close together, November feels buzzy rather than crowded and, during the day, it offers a separate children's menu to cater for shopping families.

Was perusing the site to identify where I wanted to book up and can honestly say that this restaurant has the worst possible reviews, do they not like customers?? Needless to say I will be booking elsewhere

While over visiting friends in Glasgow me and my girlfriend fancied eating out. We visited The List website and noticed that November were offering the 2for1 deal on Sunday afternoons. We headed along and asked the waitress whether we could use our card as we hadnt phoned beforehand. This confused the staff but eventually they said "Yes, this time we will allow it". I was close to just calling them on my mobile while standing next to them if it was going to be an issue.
We took our seats and then placed our order. 40mins later our starters arrived, which was very nice but anything would have been good after this amount of time as we were starving! A further 30mins passed and our main course arrived, luke-warm! When someone eventually came over to take our plates away we complained but explained we weren't looking for any discount since we had eaten all the food, we just wanted our bill.
Eventually the bill arrived with someone elses drinks on it, 40% discount for the poor service but no "List discount". They took the bill back, took the drinks off it and again gave us a bill with the discount but no "List discount". I gave up in the end, paid the bill and left.
We should have had 2for1 plus the 40% discount for poor service but we ended up paying more than we had thought for a very very bad experience. We will not be back.

List, please remove November from your website as they obviously don't have a clue what they are offering!

Purposely chose November because it says it runs 2-for-1 on a Friday evening. Phoned up and booked beforehand, also asked you do you the List Card deal on a Friday night. Yep, says the girl on the phone, just bring it along.

The food was really good, I had a smoked haddock risotto, my friend had a salad - it did take a while to come, but nothing that bad.

However, when I got the bill, it didn't have the List Card deduction. I asked why not, and they said they don't do that on a Friday night, only during the week. I'd been suspicious that this might happen from the start, which is why I'd purposely asked when booking. The waitress went away and asked the manager, and came back offering me a 5pm deal (a lesser reduction), but still refusing to give me the List Card deal.

It would be good if some List Card people could either sort this out or take it off the website for a Friday night, so this doesn't happen to anyone else.

If you want to have some food and a drink - choose somewhere that you custom is valued. Poor value for money all round.
12 of us on a hen night. We arrived at out reserved table to find some of our seats missing(other customers had taken them). After ordering all 3 courses and having waited another hour after we had finished the starter we had to remind the staff we still had not received our 'mains' and eventually we received out sweets. The whole meal took over 3 hrs! We ordered a jug of water with the other alcoholic drinks, and even after waiting 35 minutes, we still had no water. We paid the meal/drinks bill, but our change was never returned. All in all not a very customer friendly place.

Picked November for a girly outing to celebrate friend's birthday as we were looking to start the night with a few cocktails. (Big Disappointment) all our cocktails came in 1/2 pint lager glasses with 2 black straws ,that was it (yuk). No matter what cocktail we ordered they all came in the same way. Presentation 0/10. Take my advice and go else where, not worth the money.

Very slow service, approximately 35 mins before getting food. Glass of coke was filled to the top with ice, very little coke the glass.
Food when it arrived was overcooked.
Chicken skewers were cremated instead of chargrilled.
Chicken in the fajitas was overcooked and dry. Onions and peppers were frazzled.
Croutons in the Ceaser Salad were not crunchy but soft and doughy.
2 bowls of chips arrived cooked totally differently, one bowl seemed undercooked.
Uncle Ben's boil in the bag rice with the Checken skewers meal was ok.
Service staff seemed apologetic and reduced the bill.
However, in no way would I ever consider going back to this restaurant.
