Its central location just off Sauchiehall Street's pedestrian stretch means Molly Malones is a popular draw for those looking to unwind after work, as well as those looking to catch the football, while weekend crowds attest to the popularity of the live music, which ranges from folk to rock. There's an honest sense of hospitality in this traditionally styled pub, reflecting its Irish influence. The space is dominated by dark wood, with patterned curtains and traditional fixtures adding to the homely vibe. As well as offering what claims to be Glasgow's best pint of Guinness, Molly Malones has an all-day menu filled with a mix of Irish and Scottish classics, including a hearty smoked haddock chowder – a warming mix of smoked fish, potatoes and chives, served with soda bread. There's also well-seasoned haggis with the traditional accompaniments of potato and turnip, and an Irish stew that's thick with tender chunks of lamb, potato and carrot in a meaty gravy. For what space is left, the chocolate fudge brownie is rich without being too sweet. Special deals include two main courses for £10 on selected dishes, available Monday to Thursday.
- High point: Hearty grub
- Low point: Some dishes differ from menu descriptions
