The idea of a classy Chinese restaurant conjures up images of dimly-lit interiors with plush flock wallpaper and maybe an aquarium. The Amber retains the classiness and tries to refresh the traditional style with dark wood and drapery adorning the interiors. There is a slightly old-fashioned atmosphere and an old-fashioned attention to quality. It's a friendly place - a warm smile on a wet night is a good beginning. Expect dishes such as duck with Szechuan sauce or a simply done prawn-fried rice as well as Chinese classics on the menu. [Not recently visited.]
