This chic New Town restaurant with its crisp table linen, brass chandeliers and large, arched windows looking out onto Queen Street has a relaxed, intimate atmosphere. Service is discreet but attentive and there are lots of quiet, cosy corners in which to have a good chat or linger over a bottle from the extensive Italian wine list. Chef-patron Filipo Librizzi's menu includes a selection of daily changing fish and seafood specials, reflecting his Sicilian roots, with dishes such as grilled sea bass draped in deliciously moist pancetta and tender sautéed artichokes. From the regular à la carte menu, breast of chicken comes cooked in a fragrant lemon butter and with a good selection of nicely roasted vegetables, while mussels are served in a deliciously simple garlic, onion and caper white wine sauce. Desserts are traditional, such as a home-made Sicilian ice-cream cake dotted with generous chunks of dried fruit. There is no set lunch menu, but instead a shorter version of the evening à la carte menu is available at reduced prices, making this a good spot for a civilised and relaxing break from shopping on nearby George Street.
