Reviews of Howies (208 Bruntsfield Place, Edinburgh)

1. Disappointed in Bruntsfield, Edinburgh – 29 August 2011, 12:54amHowiesReport

INCONSISTENT QUALITY

Whilst this might be a symptom of end of festival fatigue, I was exceedingly disappointed by the food at the Bruntsfield branch of Howies today. I had ordered: Marinated Atlantic Prawns, baby spinach, garden peas, chilli and lime dressing

and was served soggy lettuce RATHER than spinach

Swimming in plain oil RATHER than a chilli and lime dressing.

Along with some defrosted prawns and peas.

Whilst the waitress was very efficient, the kitchen is clearly cutting corners and seems quite happy to send out food of substandard quality.

I had always been a fan of Howies but after this meal, I would no longer recommend it. If you are looking for a place that is reasonably priced and of reliable quality in Bruntsfield you would be better placed going to Montpeliers across the road.
