The List's Eating & Drinking Guide 2008 is now in the shops. This review is taken from the 2007 edition.
It's hard to imagine a restaurant of any other nationality getting away with calling itself 'I Love You', although whether Ti Amo would really make good on its promise to accept 'green stamps or IOUs' in place of cash or credit card may be debatable. But, loved up or not, there's enough goodwill in the air to please the steady stream of customers, whether the desire for risotto hits at 4pm or it's just a hunger for pasta or pizza before or after the Festival Theatre. The dark-painted, vaguely art nouveau ground floor offers more intimate dining, while the vast downstairs room beyond the heart-shaped fish pond will easily cope if your affections include several generations or all your mates. Tender scalloppine Perugia with Parma ham and sage, and the wine-rich brasato di vitello with polenta are tasty, although the promised array of Tuscan vegetables with the beef don't differ noticeably from the 'garden vegetables' and salad garnish generously supplied with the veal. The Healthy Choice menu is hardly less substantial and, like the pre-theatre choice, comes at a reasonable fixed price. To finish, there's a bright rock candy mountain array of sundaes and Crolla desserts.
- High point: House wine well above average
- Low point: Red roses on tables well past sell-by date
