With its giant windows facing out onto Nicolson Street, Café Lucia is a great place to people watch. Or you can turn your back on the world and find out what's coming up at the Festival Theatre courtesy of the large, but silent, TV screen. Situated on the ground floor of this majestic theatre, Café Lucia is a fairly unassuming enterprise. Served for just a few hours each day, from behind the theatre bar, the food here is simple yet filling and very reasonably priced. Choose from tasty home-made soup such as broccoli and brie or carrot and ginger, served with French bread for just £2.20. Or opt for a bagel, focaccia or wrap filled with a variety of combinations, including goat's cheese, roast pepper and pesto or bacon, brie and cranberry - all served in plate-covering abundance for less than £3.50. Even the fruit-laden raspberry tart won't break the bank. And if it's a light snack before a matinée you're after, then Café Lucia's selection of home-made scones, croissants, cakes and tray bakes should hit the spot.
