The rather grand-sounding name is something of a misnomer for one of the smallest dining spaces in Edinburgh. Duck into an unassuming entrance that has lain hidden from Rose Street throngs for the best part of 40 years, haul up the spiral staircase and enter a small table-crammed room. Inside, this place looks more like a boisterous, nautically themed private party than a restaurant; only the open kitchen gives it away. This impression is reinforced by the office, hen and stag parties who tend to descend here at weekends, drawn not least by the BYOB policy. The food suits partying groups too, with potato skins and mussels to start and mains of the likes of chunky burgers or competently cooked sirloin steaks in a choice of rich sauces. Desserts continue the theme with the chocolate fudge cake and the dime-bar pudding both guaranteed to put a smile on the faces of hens and stags alike. Not the place for a romantic rendezvous, but it is a restaurant that is seriously up for a party.

Contact is easy phone and leave a message if we arent there or email, we reply to every message left without fail. Also our Dinner menu is £15.95 for a three course set menu, same as the last two years no price increase but you appear to have left that out.

Google maps show us in the wrong location. We are up the lane behind Mad Dogs' back door. Look for Robertsons bar on Rose Street we are behind there.
