Eating & Drinking Guide 2008

The List's Eating & Drinking Guide 2008 is now in the shops.

This review is from the 2007 edition.

Negociants is a popular pit stop for those fuelling up before dancing all night long. Staff are as happy for parties to settle in with their drinks for the night as they are with folks who come and go, venturing onward to one of Edinburgh's club nights - including downstairs at sister club, Medina. But some of this scene seems to rub off onto the venue, and the toilets tend to be of club standard, which is out of place if you drop in for a nice evening meal. The menu must be dictated by popular demand, and contains everybody's all-time favourites. Starters, or 'lite bites', are your standard bar foods such as wedges, very basic bruschetta or chicken goujons. For something more filling, nachos come in small, medium and large (which translates to massive, colossal and oversized), a char-grilled beef burger, or a sirloin for £12.95 if you're especially keen. Negociants is purely and simply favourites and fuel foods, and an easy place to hang out. So grab a drink with friends, fill up on something tasty and prepare to party.
