Eating & Drinking Guide

The 2011/12 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).

This review is taken from the current (2011) edition.

Bar Ten’s style is trendy but effortless. Fairy lights are dotted about the bar and a high ceiling makes it feel spacious. Metal benches and tiled walls give it an almost industrial feel too. Celebrating its 20th birthday in 2011, the bar remains a popular choice with all sorts. During the week people working nearby pop in for lunch or a drink after work. On weekend evenings a mixed crowd of 30-somethings fill the place. Food-wise the menu is small and ends at 4pm Monday through Thursday, but what you get is big. The beef nachos are perfect for sharing and the ciabattas are huge – ideal if you’ve slipped off Buchanan Street to refuel before hitting the shops again. For veggies the Greek plate or sweet potato, chickpea and spinach bowl are recommended. Laid-back tunes on the stereo also make Bar Ten the ideal place for sitting back and watching the world go by, albeit down one of Glasgow’s finest wee lanes.

  • High point: Great selection of bottled and draft beers
  • Low point: Rather solemn staff
