It now shares owners with nearby pub The Lab, and the popularity of Bar 10 shows no sign of abating. While the chrome-trimmed, mirror-clad interior is starting to look a little dated, its good selection of booze and freshly made pub classics means city-centre workers and casual drinkers still keep the friendly staff busy at all hours. The menu offers a range of meals and snacks from light to hearty, and there are interesting flavour combinations on display. A bacon and chorizo salad is well-executed, with the spicy tang of the chorizo complementing the saltiness of the bacon, and a lightly-dressed selection of leaves offering another foil to both. The chef's pâté, accompanied by home-made chilli chutney and masses of crusty bread, is another worthy choice, while a wrap filled with bite-sized chunks of chicken comes with a sweet and fruity mango-tinged mayonnaise. Bigger courses include burritos, pasta and chilli bowls available in beef, vegetable and three-bean varieties, which are served with rice, tortilla chips and sour cream. The specials board offers a daily-changing choice of cake – or there's the option of rounding off a meal with one of Bar 10's classic cocktails or a draught pint of fruity Erdinger wheat beer.
- High point: Fast service
- Low point: Wobbly tables
