Like the X Factor winner grabbing the Christmas number one slot, some things are reassuringly predictable … and here comes another enjoyably fatalistic announcement: it’s the return of The List’s annual Hot 100!
Published in December every year the Hot 100 is a definitive list of the movers and shakers who’ve made the year that was, what it was. It’s compiled by List staff who trawl the ranks of prominent Scots to pull out the 100 most influential of the last 12 months.
But, for the first time, we are also opening up a separate public vote for a Hot 10. Regardless of whom we choose for our main list, here’s your opportunity to have your say. Who has impressed you in 2009?
You can vote for whomever you want (though we do strongly advise against voting for Susan Boyle), from BAFTA-winners such as Daniela Nardini or Peter Capaldi to burgeoning bands such as Biffy Clyro or Glasvegas to Scotland-based, Turner Prize-nominated artists such as Richard Wright or Lucy Skaer.
Being a celebration of great Scots, the one condition is that you can only vote for someone who was either born in Scotland or is currently living and working in Scotland.
Every vote has the chance of winning a bottle of Black Grouse whisky.
