Nas burst onto the scene in 1994 at the tender age of 20 with arguably one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time- ‘Illmatic’, an album full of razor sharp observations on street life which are as poignant today as they were two decades ago.

Subsequent albums ‘It was Written’ and I Am showed Nas developing as an artist and true pioneer of hip hop with cross over tracks such as Street Dreams and If I Ruled The World (Imagine That).

With the mainstream success this brought, Nas was invited to do various guest spots on tracks with artists such as Brandy, Jennifer Lopez and Ja Rule diversifying his fan base even further.

During this time, Nas entered into a number of high profile exchanges via tracks and the media with fellow New York rapper Jay-Z as well as Eminem and Dr Dre’s prodigy 50 Cent. Amid all the drama Nas released Stillmatic which received acclaim from both critics and fans alike and spawned hits such as Thugz Mansion and Made You Look.

Always controversial and uncompromising in his role as hip hop’s most influential MC, Nas is back in 2012 with his latest album Life is Good with single Daughters already
