We are Scotland's leading food and drink guides publisher in both print and online.

www.list.co.uk is Scotland's most used web resource for What's On and Arts & Entertainment information, with over 800,000 unique users (August 2011) who spend £456m per year on dining out in Scotland. Our Food and Drink section contains features, reviews and news on all the latest bar, restaurant and café openings. 92% of our users eat out once or more each month.

Our leading print titles are our annual Eating and Drinking guide and The Larder, a comprehensive guide to Scotland's food and drink and they can be bought in our shop. In addition to working on new editions of both these titles, we are currently producing certain regional editions of The Larder.

The List's Food & Drink Editor, Donald Reid, is one of Scotland leading food writers and editors. As well as editing The List Eating & Drinking Guide and The Larder, Donald is co-author of the Rough Guide to Scotland and one of the leaders of the Slow Food Movement in Scotland.

We work closely with a number of food festivals, including the BBC Good Food Show in Glasgow and Taste Edinburgh.

All restaurants, cafés, bars, shops and food producers included in our independent guides, both print and online, are selected by ourselves. There is no charge for inclusion or any obligation to advertise.

The Eating & Drinking Guide

The 19th edition of the Eating & Drinking guide will be published on 25 April 2012. It includes:

  • listings of around 800 restaurants, bistros, cafés and bars in Glasgow and Edinburgh. All entries are selected by The List and all reviewers pay an anonymous visit to every premises each year.
  • a detailed 180-word profile on every establishment, along with with reliable factual details, high and low points, photography and useful directories of restaurants in different categories
  • places grouped by category, including : arts venues, bar and pub food, bistros and brasseries, cafes, takeaways.
  • cuisine by category: Scottish, Chinese, Far East, Fish, French, Indian, Italian, Mexican, North American, Around the World, Spanish, Thai, and Vegetarian.
  • best for categories: Budget, Byob, Live music, Romantic, Good lunch, Lively parties, Special family meal, Kids, Outdoors, Pre-theatre, Late dining, Breakfast, Weekend, Vegetarian, Wines by the glass, Strong sourcing policies.
  • city-wide maps for Glasgow and Edinburgh showing the location of every venue featured.

  • Hitlist recommendations of the best restaurants in each category.

The guide is distributed with The List magazine and is sold at £5.95 in bookshops and newsagents with a print run of 30,000.
