Flatshare

When will my ad appear?
The List is published fortnightly Wednesdays through the year and weekly during August. Your advert will appear in the next available issue of The List magazine and on The List website.
Adverts must be submitted by 12noon on the Friday prior to publication.
Adverts received after this deadline will appear in the next available issue of The List. Adverts will be loaded on The List website on the day that the magazine comes out and will be taken off the website on the publication date of the following issue.
How much does it cost?
Flatshare adverts are currently FREE OF CHARGE.
Can adverts be taken off the website when the room is no longer available?
Sorry, but we don't offer this service at present. All adverts remain live for the duration of time that the issue of the magazine is on sale.
Should I phone The List to check that they received my advert?
No, there is no need to phone us. When you submit the advert, a confirmation message will appear on screen. If you submit the ad prior to the deadline it will automatically appear in the next issue. If you submit the ad after the deadline it will appear in the issue after that. There is no need to check that we received your advert as this process is automatic.
Can I call The List to make amendments to my advert after I have sent it?
It is very difficult to make amendments to an advert after it has been sent. You should check the wording of your advert and the contact number on your advert carefully before sending.
What should I put in my advert?
Think about the type of person you want to move in and what is likely to appeal to them about your flat. You may wish to include some of the following details: description of the room and the flat, details of the type of person sought (eg: professional, non-smoker etc), details of the number of other people in the flat, how much the rent is, whether Council Tax (CT) is included, when the room is available, explanation of the location of the flat & what's nearby, mod cons such as DG (double glazing), GCH (gas central heating), private parking etc. It is essential to include a contact number for would-be flatmates to call.
Can I phone The List and ask them to run my advert again?
No. If you would like your advert in another issue of The List, you will need to place the advert again on the website after the original issue comes out.
Can I place an advert over the phone?
We do not accept bookings over the phone. The easiest way to book is on our website. If you do not have access to the internet you can call and request a form to fill out.
Can I get an advert put on the website if I miss the deadline for the magazine?
No. Adverts are loaded on the website on the day of publication only. If you miss the deadline for an issue, your ad will appear in the following one.
Can I place an advert on the website only / in the magazine only?
No. All adverts will appear in both the magazine and on the website, the same deadline applies to both the website and the magazine.
Why has the telephone hotline been replaced by online booking?
To offer a better service to our customers by providing:
  1. Easier access - Premium phone numbers are barred from certain phones, whereas the majority of our readers have access to the internet.
  2. Better accuracy - you read over your advert before you send it and it appears exactly as you have typed it, so errors in the text are less likely.
  3. More time - the deadline has been moved from 12noon on Thursday to 12noon on Friday - an extra day that can make all the difference when you have to find a flatmate at short notice.
  4. Reach more people - all of the ads go on the website as well as in the magazine.

We advise that you do not give out personal details to those enquiring about your flat. For your personal safety, you should always have someone with you when you are showing people your flat, or when you are going to see a room in a flat.
