Inevitably bowdlerised but suitably sweaty version of Tennessee Williams' loquacious play. A deceived and cancer-ridden Southern patriarch (Ives) gathers his greedy, in-fighting family for a birthday celebration, and is met by general sycophancy from all except his strangely distant son. Even in diluted form this still packs a punch and the Taylor-Newman teaming is irresistible.
