Big Pit National Mining Museum Of Wales

The 'Big Pit' is no longer used as a working mine as it has been closed since 1980. However visitors can descend the 300ft shaft to find out what it was like for generations of miners in South Wales. There is an exhibition in the old Pithead baths and a reconstructed miner's cottage can also visited so that the lifestyle of the typical miner can be observed. An exciting multimedia tour with a virtual miner allows visitors to find out about modern coalmining techniques.
