Boucher and Chardin: Masters of Modern Manners

This exhibition focuses on Jean Siméon Chardin's 'Lady Taking Tea' and François Boucher's 'Madame Boucher'. In an endeavour to tangentially transgress the path of traditional art history, the background to the two works will be examined using approximately 50 paintings, applied and decorative works, drawings and prints.

This Wolverhampton Art Gallery touring exhibition brings together work by high-profile war artist John Keane, Simon Norfolk, Anthony Haughley and Emma Summers. All of the artists have responded to the theme of conflict and the effect that it has on children worldwide. Keane was commissioned to travel to war torn Angola in Southern Africa.

Exhibiting Surrealism: The International Surrealist Exhibition, London 1936

The dawn of British Surrealism was heralded by the International Surrealist Exhibition, which opened in London in 1936 to great public success. Organised by Roland Penrose, David Gascoyne and Herbert Read, with the help of French surrealists, it featured works by Dali, Miro and Ernst, as well as a number of British artists. The National Galleries will draw on material from the Roland Penrose archive to document the exhibition's progress.
