Expanding Horizons: Giovanni Battista Lusieri and the Panoramic Landscape

Lusieri (1754–1821) was considered by his contemporaries to be one of the most skilful landscape painters of his generation. In the first half of his career he worked in Rome, Naples and Sicily and after 1800 he worked in Greece, where he was involved in Lord Elgin's still-controversial removal to Britain of the marble frieze from the Parthenon in Athens.
