A vibrant programme of new and experimental dance, visual art and theatre events that takes over the myriad nooks and crannies of the Arches. 2011 featured Stef Smith's Jamais Vu, Ross MacKay’s The Medium and a collaboration between Cara Berger and the Flatrate Theatre Company based around the book of Genesis.

Ayrshire Burns Brightly

A series of arty projects taking inspiration from the democratic ideals of the Scottish Enlightenment, and how they inspired Burns. Installation and soundscape experiences take over Ayrshire, and there's also a large cardboard tower that the public are invited to help tear down. Part of Roofless.

Pittenweem Arts Festival

As part of the art festival's 30th year, over 100 artists from around Britain will be dotted around the village of Pittenweem. Workshops for all ages will cover various artistic skills, while appearances from John Byrne and David Mackay Cook, and Jake Harvey's stone sculptures, which will be presented on the pier, promise to be particular highlights.

Spring Fling Open Studios 2012

Huge arts and crafts open studios event involving professional artists and craft makers from across Dumfries and Galloway. The weekend is all about visiting studios, meeting artists and makers and seeing them at work, but most artists will also have work for sale. For the first time in 2012 Spring Fling will be a four-day event with approximately 80 artists opening their doors.
