Leonardo’s early anatomical studies were intended to help his work as a painter, but his researches took on a life of their own, becoming the most important strand of his scientific work. Exhibition curator Martin Clayton examines the relationship between these two major aspects of Leonardo’s activity.

Continuing the long tradition of the Salon des Refusés (begun in 1863 when artists protested against the Salon de Paris' refusal to exhibit over 3000 paintings) this exhibition showcases works that were not selected for inclusion in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.

Stephen Thorpe shows artists of all skill levels the finer points of drawing, covering a variety of mediums and approaches. The Monday morning classes are project-led and experimental, while the evening classes feature a new life model each week and include both short and long poses. Booking is essential.
