RoadBlock Run (formerly Urbanathlon) returns with another race filled with obstacles for runners to negotiate in aid of Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland. Prizes for fastest males, females and teams, as well as a special prize for runners in fancy dress.

Weekly running club following the very best kind of route: one with a bar at each end. After meeting at Joseph Pearce's the group jogs down to Sofi's for some refreshing lingonberry juice, before heading back up to JP's, which is a route of 3.5 miles.

If you harbour visions of your kids pitching for the Red Sox one day, these weekly baseball matches and training sessions should help them hone their ball skills and give you a taste of classic Americana to boot (don't forget the hot dogs and potato chips). Ages 6–13.

If you're going to break yourself by running further and faster than the human body was made to go, you may as well do it somewhere picturesque – and Edinburgh is certainly that (if a little windy at times). Participants run for a variety of charities.
