Previous years have seen 150 events hosted by around 50 venues within a one-mile radius in Edinburgh's port community, including the Leith Festival Gala Day on Leith Links, as well as the Leith Short Film Festival and tons of walks, talks and tours.

Leith festival Gala Day has become an institution in Edinburgh, with crowds gathering every year to see the pageant (setting off at noon), packed with puppets, bands and dancers, wend its way from Pilrig Park to the Links, where people gather afterwards, whatever the weather, to munch burgers and listen to some funky tunes. There's also a country dancing demonstration by local children (2pm) and the announcement of the winners in the Big Man Walking prize (3pm). Part of Leith Festival.
