Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging
Date Location
After 'Bend it Like Beckham', Chadha takes a step into younger territory with this adaptation of two of Louise Rennison's books. The film lacks the sharp wit of slick American comedies such as 'Clueless' and 'Mean Girls', but earns points for featuring actresses, including lead Georgia Groome, who really are the age of the characters they're playing.

Each generation gets the Mary Tyler Moore it deserves; as creator and star of NBC's '30 Rock' sitcom, Fey has earned herself the right to be 2008's funny-girl.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
Date Location
In the second instalment of the Narnia films, the Pevensie children are summoned back to Narnia for a slick, fast-paced romp through dark woods, underground caverns and fierce battles. With a simplistic plot, and Caspian (Barnes) reduced to a pretty face, Disney may have finally brought Narnia to the big screen, but for a real journey of the imagination, stick to the books.

A Complete History of My Sexual Failures
Date Location
Documentary filmmaker Waitt sets out to contact all of his ex-girlfriends, to discover what makes him such a rubbish boyfriend, leading to a trip to Edinburgh. Hancock
Date Location
Smith plays a nihilistic superhero who has fallen out of favour with the public. Due to this scenario, 'Hancock' dangerously flirts with the status of one-joke film. Amazingly, though, Hancock is then rescued (both as a character and as a film) by PR executive Ray Embrey (Bateman), who believes he can turn Hancock's public image from zero to hero.

Horton Hears A Who!
Date Location
Animators Blue Sky take a break from their ongoing 'Ice Age' franchise to colourfully realise the universe of Dr Seuss' text. Both Carrey and Carrell are allowed full rein for their brand of vocal mugging as co-directors Hayward and Martino skilfully guide 'Horton' towards a comforting moral about size not being all that important.

The Incredible Hulk
Date Location
Five years after Ang Lee's 'Hulk' commercially flopped, Leterrier ditches cerebral musing for all-out action and little else. The sequel finds Dr Bruce Banner (Norton) hiding from the American military, reunited with lover Betty Ross (Tyler) and pursued by her father, General Thunderbolt Ross (William Hurt). Disappointingly dumb, this Hulk is anything but incredible.

Irina Palm
Date Location
Maggie (Faithful) is desperate. In her mid 50s and struggling with preconceptions that she is too old to do anything, until she wanders into a seedy Soho club and winds up being hired to give relief to men through a glory hole. While there is some humour in how this premise is handled (no pun intended), the film can't decide whether it's a sex comedy or a serious social commentary.

Iron Man
Date Location
Performing a perfectly poised balancing act between taking the fantastical material seriously and treating it with a knowing sense of humour, this smart adaptation locates Tony Stark/Iron Man's story of professional irresponsibility and personal redemption firmly within the context of the war on terror. Kidnapped by Afghan insurgents, Iron Man promptly renounces arms manufacture and instead uses his super-powered outfit to right his wrongs.
