Abba The Movie
Date Location
Made at the height of their popularity, the wafer thin plotline consists of the four Swedes being pursued across Oz by a Sydney journalist. Features a brief, heartstopping appearance by Lou from 'Neighbours' as their bodyguard. No, it really does.

Alvin and the Chipmunks

Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging
Date Location
After the disappointing 'Bride and Prejudice', writer/director Chadha takes a step into younger territory with this adaptation of two of Louise Rennison's books. The film lacks the sharp wit of slick American comedies such as 'Clueless' and 'Mean Girls', but earns points for featuring actresses, including lead Groome, who really are the age of the characters they're playing.

Babylon AD
Date Location
Post apocalyptic thriller starring Vin Diesel as Russian mercenary Toorop who is escorting a very special woman (Yeoh) to China. This woman carries inside her the possibility of a spiritual future for all mankind. Silly, derivative and clearly hacked up by the studios this potentially interesting sci-fi is a frustrating, occasionally interesting affair.

Ben X
Date Location
This mock-documentary introduces us to teen Asperger's sufferer Ben. Moving backwards and forwards between his so-called life of bullying and high school torture and his escape into online role playing games, the film delivers a doom laden narrative. Balthazar's debut feature cleverly dodges and ducks where you would otherwise expect it to run straight.

Cars
Date Location
Racecar Lightning McQueen loses his way en route to the final race of the season and finds himself marooned in the sleepy town of Radiator Springs, which is populated by an array of misfit cars. Despite the many positives, 'Cars' doesn't quite make the highest grade mainly because it's the least original Pixar film yet.

Cass
Date Location
Detailing the shenanigans of West Ham's notorious Inter City Crew (ICF) during the Thatcher years, 'Cass' stands alongside Alan Clarke's hitherto untouchable hooligan yarn 'The Firm', at the top of the filmmaking table. Based on the true story of Cass Pennant, the most prominent black football hooligan to be accepted by white working class yobs as one of their own, 'Cass' tells an eminently cinematic storyline.

Charlotte's Web
Date Location
Chirpy tot Fern (Fanning) rescues Wilbur the pig from a cruel farmyard fate for lovable arachnid Charlotte to eventually save the day in a bittersweet finale that touches on practical matters of life and death. Somewhere between the cutesy 'Babe' and Orwell's political 'Animal Farm' it should draw in children and nostalgic adults alike.
