The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
Date Location
In the second instalment of the Narnia films, the Pevensie children are summoned back to Narnia for a slick, fast-paced romp through dark woods, underground caverns and fierce battles. With a simplistic plot, and Caspian (Barnes) reduced to a pretty face, Disney may have finally brought Narnia to the big screen, but for a real journey of the imagination, stick to the books.
10 Sep11 Sep Wed 7.30; Thu 11.00am & 7.30 Adam Smith Theatre, Kirkcaldy
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
Date Location
This, the first of seven proposed children fantasy blockbusters based on CS Lewis' much loved allegorical novels, is an absolute stinker, and one made all the more unpalatable by the fact that the very unchristian greed of its producers is so utterly palpable over its seemingly endless running time. Proof that great books can make truly appalling films.

The Forbidden Kingdom
Date Location
Chop-socky superstars Jackie Chan and Jet Li share the screen for the first time in this East-meets-West martial arts adventure in which a kung fu obsessed American teen makes a discovery that sends him on a quest to China to free the imprisoned Monkey King. Think 'Karate Kid' crossed with 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon'. Full of interesting references to great Hong Kong actioners of the past this is enjoyable and silly fun.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army
Date Location
Guillermo del Toro returns to Hollywood with a second blockbuster adaptation of Dark Horse Comics' cult supernatural title. A new storyline pits the hell-spawned hero against a mighty mechanised legion of unstoppable warriors. The sequel has more of everything ? monsters, action, humour, character development, supporting cast and mythology ? but it suffers from an overabundance of riches.

Stardust
Date Location
In a countryside town bordering a magical land, a young man makes a promise to his beloved that he'll retrieve a fallen star by venturing into the magical realm in this star-studded fantasy epic adapted from the novel by Neil Gaiman. Cox lacks pizzazz as the adventurer Tristan, which Vaughn only emphasises by pitching him against one big-name star after another and while 'Stardust' has some entertaining moments, it looks fated to join 'Eragon' and 'The Dark is Rising' on the box office…
